What Are Laser Treatments?

Laser treatments in the context of eye care involve using advanced laser technology to address various ocular conditions and enhance visual acuity. These treatments harness the precision of laser beams to reshape or modify eye structures, providing tailored solutions for different vision-related issues.

Laser Treatments at ReFocus Eye Health

Various types of laser treatments cater to specific ocular conditions and vision needs. Here are some common types we offer:

arrow-circle-right-3 arrow-circle-right-3-light LASIK (Laser-Assisted In Situ Keratomileusis)

LASIK is a popular refractive surgery that corrects vision by reshaping the cornea. A small flap is created on the cornea's surface, and an excimer laser is used to remove precise amounts of tissue to reshape the cornea, correcting nearsightedness, farsightedness, and astigmatism.

After cataract surgery, the posterior capsule may become cloudy, affecting vision. YAG laser capsulotomy involves creating a small opening in the clouded capsule to restore clear vision.

SLT is a type of laser surgery commonly used in the management of open-angle glaucoma. A laser selectively targets and treats specific cells in the trabecular meshwork, enhancing the outflow of aqueous humor and lowering intraocular pressure.

Focal laser treatments are employed to treat specific areas of the retina. This is commonly used in managing diabetic retinopathy by sealing leaking blood vessels and reducing abnormal vessel growth.

MLT is a newer form of laser treatment for glaucoma. Unlike traditional laser trabeculoplasty, MLT employs a micropulse laser, delivering short, repetitive pulses of laser energy to the trabecular meshwork in the eye.
